I fly every time. I like flying, it gets me there faster, and I don’t have to do anything

Drive. Unless you need to sleep.

You’ve got to account for time spent at the airport, which counts double in my book. Plus all the bullshit you have to go through. That, along with the added cost, means I never fly unless the drive is over 6 hours. Even then I prefer to drive unless the drive is over 14 hours.

yes - the fly vs drive line is 4-5 hours depending if you need a car on the back end. And if you have a fast car you are ahead of the game. Equation can change depending if the plane is an F15 or the car is a CTSv, Vette, Porsche or Lambo.

Yeah it all depends, when, how long, how much, and especially where.

When I flew out to Salt Lake last year, sure it was only two hour flight, but I had to be at the airport at least 75 minutes early. It’s also about an hour drive to the airport. It’s also about $350 a ticket (round trip). So for me and my wife it was $700, 4+ hours flying, 3+ hours sitting, and 2 hours driving. So why did we do it? Because it’s a 15 hour drive. And I don’t if you’ve ever driven through northeast Oregon, Idaho, and dropped through Utah before, but it is a painfully depressing drive.

less than 7 hours drive. The way I figure.

@1 hour to get to the airport.

@1.5 hour time before flight

1 hour flight

.5 hour to get car

Then drive.

Depends on where I’m going and who with. I’m in southern CT, and fly out to Martha’s Vineyard/Block Island or Nantucket during the summer for day trips. It’s a 3 hr drive to the ferry in MA, plus travel time on the boat to the island. Or I can fly there in a putt-putt 172 and be there in an hour. The plane makes day trips possible, otherwise add in the cost of a room on the island ($$ during the season) and r/t fee for the car ferry. If going with friends we split the travel costs and it’s a pretty cheap day.

Yeah, I always go with the F15 when I can afford the upgrade.

I drive. I’m cheap, I’m arriving the night before. I’ve only flown a handful of times. I would prefer to fly. I drive the truck full of equipment for work, 2pallets of plastic sheeting isn’t exactly carry on.

I just drove 240 in 3:30ish, working out of town sucks. Illinois sucks, 8 hour days out of town sucks. No cruise control sucks.

We grilled steaks 2 days last week, rib shack another.

If it’s still for sale, I may go look a bike 1.25h away this week.

Depends on what you prefer. For some the time is worth the cost, but most of the commenters here would drive (you are on a auto enthusiast forum.)

Personally, I drive if at all possible (same landmass.) I really do not like flying.
